“A nice guy”? I doubt this very much. Nice people are aware of others, their feelings, usually their expectations. A man old enough to have kids is old enough be able to experience empathy, old enough not to need training. Sometimes I feel like I’m observing an alien culture when I read these Medium pieces, people raised on internet porn and hookup swiping, and I’ll admit, sometimes I have felt a little envy of the ease with which some people end up naked together. Then of course I read of the entirely unsurprising results, and am reminded that intimate acts often require intimacy, and intimacy is so difficult to achieve with people who are essentially strangers.
