And of course, there's ONLY one way to connect intimately with other people...to be paired in a romantic relationship.

This is an attitude you would expect from a young and inexperienced person. No matter what you have heard in romantic movies, there isn't necessarily one person for all of us, and life in an unauthentic relationship is torturous. Would most people be happy to have that great romantic relationship? Sure. Are there many people who cherish their alone time and chafe at spending too much time in social situations, even with loved ones? Absolutely.
