As an old carpenter I despise base ten measurements, a quirk I wrote about in If Only We Had Six Fingers, so you get my top at 48;) You have to put some pictures of your guitar and a story about it up on Medium...which would double the number of wannabe luthiers here. If you do, submit it to the Wood Workers of The World publication.

About that lutherie rabbit hole, I'm actually a little envious of your Australian residence. Non only does Australia have fantastic "timbers" for guitars but also the presence of Trevor Gore, who is now directing my builds through his lutherie books Contemporary Guitar Design and Build, volumes 1 and 2.

Trevor has done extensive physics research on the acoustic performance of guitars, the quantification of stiffness and response of the timbers involved, particularly the tops, and several bracing schemes, notably his "falcate" bracing system. Right now I'm working on #3, figured Myrtle from Oregon and Port Orford Cedar for top and neck. Learning to execute the falcate bracing but not yet using his frequency response system to determine thickness of plates and their sonic tuning. I plan to do that on future builds.

Thanks for the read and response, hand tools rock! Griz
