Disagree fundamentally with your take on Clinton and Neoliberalism. Clinton didn't triangulate because he agreed with conservative economic ideas or "principles", he triangulated to remain relevant in a government where both houses of congress were in GOP hands. Clinton lost his majorities largely because of his progressive overreach (health care reform) and had to choose between being a "caretaker/placeholder" administration or playing on the conservative field, possibly picking off a couple of "conservative" issues and maybe getting back the legislative power through the process.

The current left obsession with neoliberalism and the global economy has much in common with Trump's "America first". Economies may not be a zero sum game but often as wealth and economic activity realign there are winners and losers. Globally the world's impoverished have made huge strides over the last five decades and yes, America's middle class has taken a hit. Still, we have no right to be the only wealthy country, or international alliance w Western Europe in an otherwise impoverished world.
