I do too!. It's really no fun, but a couple of tips; learn BEFOREHAND do the roll maneuver to get out of bed...I didn't know this and trying to learn it while drugged up post surgery is very difficult.

Discuss nerve pain with the surgeon or recovery team. I was fine with the surgical pain after about 4 days and stayed active, which made for fluid buildup/pressure on the sciatic nerves at night which the opioids could barely touch.

I rented a hospital bed for the family room as I was not allowed to sit in a chair for a month post surgery, Could stretch out there and eat, socialize, watch TV.

I was fortunate to have an old friend come out and play nurse for two weeks, saved my life given that I was caring for my 95 year old dad and two dogs in my home. Was not able to cook for several weeks (bending, lifting)

I got LITTLE preparation from the surgeon, and his PA was very hard to get ahold of to deal with post surgical issues. Better to have all the ducks in a row beforehand as he will be busy recovering and healing...good luck!
