I expected so much more from you Chris, we have agreed on many things in the past. I certainly didn’t expect you to descend to “ I utterly demolish your claims”. I expect that from internet trolls, usually on the right but too often on the left as well. “I owned you” is neither an argument nor a supportable claim. President Trump and Colin Kaepernick are not interchangeable examples of English usage. President Trump barely manages coherence, has no acquaintance with facts, and is a well documented liar. Kaepernick published a well written a well organized, well referenced, essay with which you disagree.

Not relevant whether you would have tried to criticize someone who wasn’t black and who clearly had a firm command of English with an attack on their language skills. Attacking a black person with this non-sequitur is the issue, and we in the U.S. have a sordid past of attacking the intelligence of black Americans on the basis of their language use, a history your statement seems to play into, particularly when you defend it with the patronizing claim that it “was the most charitable response I could think of”. I doubt Kaepernick needs or wants your charity. Possibly he would appreciate your cogent argument on why his use of the term lynching is inappropriate, which would be a respectful response, not an unsupportable accusation of lying or a dismissive charge of having a poor command of the language.
