I had the opposite problem with my doctor...she was afraid to discuss weight with me, even though I was edging into chronic metabolic syndrome and hidden heart disease. I carried the weight well, I'm muscular and have been an athlete and carpenter for decades, but the truth was I was pushing a BMI of 29, and had the blood pressure, blood sugar, and high cholesterol that so often goes with overweight.

I knew I was overweight and out of shape; orthopedic issues kept me from exercising enough and I was buried in elder care responsibilities, drinking too much, and eating the wrong foods for the wrong reasons.

I told her these were life style symptoms and diseases and that I wanted to attack them with lifestyle treatments. She told me they were genetic and I needed to take the drugs. This was obviously easier for her, no bad reviews for "fat shaming" her patients, but caused me to lose trust in her medical judgement, given that I lost weight, got back in shape, and got rid of most of my symptoms and high numbers.

I didn't get rid of the hidden heart disease though, and only recently learned of the nutritional causes and fixes for that...obviously not from my doctor.
