I have a woman primary care doctor, partly by chance. When the ACA upgraded the individual market coverage I was able to purchase to include a primary care physician, my best friend’s partner in practice accepted me (and my elderly dad to whom I am primary caregiver) as a patient. I am generally more comfortable with a woman doctor and of course have noticed that it is standard operating procedure for a nurse to accompany her for either of our examinations when they get “personal”. Can’t say whether that would be true for a same sex doc, only had one doctor in the last 50 years.
