I never hesitated to authorize vaccination for my 98 year old father, who owes his life (and I mine) to the introduction of penicillin to the WWII battlefield. I would add that when my mom was diagnosed with CHF at age 72 her prognosis was at best 5 years. My best friend was an internal med doc with an extensive practice in elderly with multiple complex conditions and he examined all her tests to confirm both diagnosis and prognosis. She lived 19 more years, almost certainly because of advancements in proscription meds. On the other hand my doc seems ignorant of or unwilling to discuss the lifestyle elements that were tipping me towards chronic metabolic syndrome and would only offer medication for treatment. Like you, I took the course of lifestyle change, with great results...so far;)
