I remember listening to Old Friends at 17 and feeling the emotional pull of Simon's words. They definitely didn't turn out to be prophetic at 71. The only real difference I feel is the freedom to pursue dreams that I was too timid to reach for in my 20s and 30s. Yeah, the body is a lot more battered, but I'm still rowing rapids and making new friends...looking especially younger ones. Saw Boz Scaggs at a beautiful mountain venue last week, he still plays "Loan Me a Dime" as his big show stopper, just like he did in '70, and he still kills with it;)
