I started reading for tips on how to leave someone. I am wrestling with the decision to place my elderly father in an assisted living facility. For him this will be a devastating breakup, he is now bonded to me, his primary caregiver, and I am chafing, resenting, burying feelings because I know the harm it will do for me to pull away. I find some support in your assertion that needing to live your own life is a valid, sometimes necessary choice. Doesn’t make that conversation any easier though;)
