I think the experience of a new mother is closely tied to the medical system she has access to. A very close friend is a lactation nurse, actually created and runs the lactation program at her hospital, which is part of the Kaiser system in the Ca. Bay Area. She is both highly skilled and experienced, new mothers who give birth in her hospital have a good opportunity to meet their feeding goals. I’m certain this is not the case in hospitals, maybe even birthing centers across the country.
