I'd like to see a link on this, but if so, so what? The facts remain; Ukraine has been an independent nation for thirty years, Russia has no right to put troops in Ukraine for any reason, and has been doing so for 8 years supporting and at times conducting a civil war that has killed somewhere around 14 thousand and made refugees of about a million. None of this is excusable for any conceivable reason.

Sorry to say but I think it's naive to think that peace can be made with Putin except on the terms that he is allowed to bully, corrupt, and if that fails, use military force to bring the Balkan states, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and of course Ukraine back under his control.

I share your disgust with much of U.S. foreign policy over the last 50 years. I refused to fight in Vietnam and have resisted where I could our insane support of dictators during the Cold War. The loss of life, freedom, and of course the opportunity cost of not promoting our professed values of freedom, self rule, and human rights is incalculable. Still, I harbor no illusions about the new Fascist dictatorships in China and Russia. From Merriam; often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

I can't find any part of this that the regimes of Putin and Xi don't fit and I have no doubt that this is Putin's goal for the countries I mentioned. Russia of course is a tiny economy propped up almost entirely by petro and nat gas dollars from the west. China on the other hand is a growing power, with no distaste for conducting genocide today. Trying to make peace with Fascists has a very poor track record and we should have no illusions about these guys.
