If you place a gram of weight on the Hamas statement then you will lose the gram. Hamas' true intents are easily deduced from their actions. The first of those was to use mass murder to provoke a violent Israeli response in hopes that thousands of Gazan's would be killed and maimed. They succeeded. Their strategic goal with this action was to blow up the alliance being negotiated between the Sunni states of the Middle East, Israel, and the U.S., a deal being cooked up with no regard to their ambitions or positions.
