It's a mistake to equate the behavior of any animal species to any other animal species. Likewise, it's a mistake to equate the behavior of any human culture to any other human culture. The most salient feature and potent adaptation strategy of humans has been to construct complex and integrated cultures to adapt to the environments they inhabited. We have built thousands of these and now live in an unintegrated culture where we do NOT share the economic strategies, group and individual values, and mythic structures that would have characterized the thousands of integrated cultures that existed before the industrial revolution and our modern society.
