It's been kind of the opposite for me, I have taken comfort in the fact that the trauma and illness in my family was bad fortune and didn't happen for a reason that could be changed or blamed. I know that it harmed the sufferers and those that had to care for them, and in the off chance that it made any of us stronger we would gladly traded that strength for the good fortune and health that would have made the suffering and coping unnecessary.
