It’s equally naive to think that older progressive voters don’t have long experience with our politics, haven’t built a supply of wisdom on which to draw when they make their electoral choices. It’s often infuriating to watch young progressives acting and speaking like they invented the progressive agendas, that these ideas sprouted fresh and new from their enlightened young minds.

I’ll tell you, as a young carpentry contractor I certainly had a confidence in my knowledge and skills. a confidence that was unwarranted. I now wince at some of the jobs I completed that seemed brilliant and original at the time. As the decades went by I started looking for gray hair on the sub-contractors I hired. They may have moved slower than the young guys…they usually moved in the right direction and spent a lot less time backtracking and fixing mistakes.

In any case neither you nor I got to choose the Democratic nominee. Other people get to speak with their votes and those voices have weight. I think that dismissing Joe Biden as a “corporate candidate” is likely youthful folly, just as trashing Hillary for that supposed sin was a disaster for the nation. This country would be light years ahead of where it is now had more Democratic and independent voters been able to see clearly, had they not bought Russian, Rush-ian and Koch bros. propaganda about her.
