Malthus didn't get things very wrong. The "green revolution" merely leveraged unsustainable technology to postpone the trend. His only real mistake was possible to underestimate the human power to sculpt mass behavior through culture. We were on course to overpopulate out outstrip the resources in our "range", we have temporarily expanded that range with our technology, we might possibly use our intelligence to reconfigure our culture to match natural resources with our demand on them...the jury is still out.
