Michael, sounds like it’s time to do what we did back in the day, the old involuntary Macrobiotic. Brown rice is cheap, so are dried beans, pick up a pressure cooker at the thrift store, learn how to use it. Onions, carrots, potatoes (whole everything, never peeled or scraped)whichever vegetable you can afford. Cook up a bunch of rice, soak the beans and cook up a bowl of those too, if you’ve got a wok and a stove, some olive oil and some soy sauce you’re in business.
