My problem with your comment, and many others, is the assumption that Israel is a single entity that backs the goals of the Likud party and Netanyahu. I doubt that this is true, and just as Americans can't all be tarred by the former president's criminality and hate mongering, all Israelis can't be tarred by Bibi's.

Historical context must be taken into account in this conflict, and it almost NEVER is in our current media. Palestinians call their diaspora the "Nakba", and western journalists have adopted this story. Neither EVER mentions that the surrounding neighbors of tiny and even less defensible Israel declared war and attacked when the Jewish state was declared per UN Resolution 181. Several have NEVER abandoned their state of war and maintain the stated goal of destroying Israel, as does Hamas.

We are capable of condemning the tactics that Israel's government has employed while still understanding that they face existential and genocidal threats on all sides. Had their neighboring states NOT attempted to wipe them out in 1948, it's unlikely in the extreme that the Nakba would have ever happened, just as it's entirely likely that many of the Palestinian refugees fled the fight with the full expectation of returning to their homes, and those of the Israelis, once Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran et al had pushed the Jews into the sea.

It's also a fact that the Palestinians could have chosen peace with their neighbors and have let their children grow up in peace innumerable times, and either chose war instead or let themselves be bullied by the worst around them into accepting a state of war, much to the harm of themselves and their children.

Israelis have lived under the stated threat of genocide from their neighbors for more than 75 years, and this has no doubt affected their national psyche.
