Nobody has yet explained to me a problem with fiat currencies that Bitcoin in any way solves. Bitcoin promoters constantly point out that the dollar has lost a ton of purchasing power over the last 90 years, nobody has explained WHY this is a problem. Promoters claim that the dollar left in a bank account for decades loses tremendous value, they ignore the reality that nobody DOES this, nobody leaves their dollars in a bank account for decades. The analogy with PC adoption shows that the first seller of a new technology does NOT always come to dominate the new market. Bitcoin is in my opinion vulnerable to this reality.

Bitcoin has built in what it thinks of as features, the proof of work transaction model, the limited supply...these may actually be bugs, not features. The POW verification of the blockchain seems doomed to slow down and consume more energy the more transactions that go on the dispersed ledger. Other cryptos are dealing with this and some will almost certainly solve it. But in any case none are as cheap and efficient as my Visa card, not yet any way.

It's oh so easy to dump on "capitalism", which is a term that doesn't really describe the global economy, and offer up vague "solutions", while ignoring or failing to realize the scale of that economy and the degree of dependence that ALL humanity, rich and poor have on the current non-system. Things like colonialism, slavery, and racism predate our current economic practices, in many ways the global nature of human economies is working to fight all three. Pollution is the milinea old scourge of all civilizations, including, pre-capitalist and non-capitalist modern civilizations.

Rather than indulge in ad-hominem shots at me, rather than assuming that my disagreement with or confusion over your ideas stem from MY personal shortcomings maybe you should work on those ideas and how you present them. It's most likely that we share core values and assuming that I don't get or agree with your ideas because my values are bad is lazy at best.
