OK, now I know where you are going with your comment. As I pointed out, that 7/1 differential using the dollar as a steady metric was flawed, and of course for the last 50 years I’ve been hearing dire predictions about the “end of oil”. That would definitely help with the global warming problem, don’t you think? The fact is that there are alternatives, using current technology, to offset the end of oil. Would take some effort, probably a societal commitment on the scale of WWII, but then that level of taxation and investment in human capital, not to mention how beneficial for the middle class the subsequent public funding of the arms race, the space race, the interstate highway system, and other large infrastructure projects was. Wily was a cartoon, our challenges are real, we already know many if not most of the fixes.
