One of the many benefits of fasting is the control it gives you over your eating impulses. With food readily at hand throughout the day we eat for many reasons that have nothing to do with hunger, many Americans can no longer identify the actual sensation of hunger.

I practice intermittent fasting on the 16/8 schedule, which gives my body a daily respite from digestion and insulin release to deal with added blood sugar from meals and snacks.

Like you, I have experienced the energy lift from fasting, if I'm rowing on the river it's easy to go all day without experiencing hunger. Better I think to take charge of our own health rather than to just deferring to doctors and drugs.
