People have such a fuzzy and incomplete understanding of the society in which they live that they imagine it as a "system". Capitalist, Socialist, Anarchist, an organized system being run according to some ideology or philosophy. This is a little like looking at a marsh an analyzing it as a Survival of the Fittest system, correct in the tiniest and most insignificant way (survival of the fittest IS involved) but missing totally the complexity, interdependency, symbiocity, parasitocity, and so many other relationships that appear in any slice of time to be a balanced ecosystem. And you never know which link in this mind bendingly complex event we call a marsh can be broken without much effect and which broken link will cause the entire ecosystem to collapse.
