Pure speculation. Given that the basic argument between the two parties dates back to Jefferson/Hamilton I doubt that it will be resolved by splitting it into finer gradations of ideology and policy. And by all means, keep assigning the big conspiracy explanation to the current state of affairs, may not shine much light but it definitely makes it easier to "grasp";)
