Sounding pretty privileged here. These aren't options available to many. Believe me, there are a lot of people who are well pleased to have a 9 to 5 that pays the bills, supports the family, provides both social connection and meaning to their lives. I've never been one of them of course, like you I found out early (earlier for me) that I wasn't going to do well with a boss. Once you know what you can't do the options left to you are less scary.
