Take it from someone who lived through and participated in years of the anti-war movement, this was indeed hyperbole. The tin soldiers part was right, these were undertrained and poorly led semi-civilians who face enraged demonstrators, some with years of experience in violent confrontation with authorities. The parallels between either Kent State or the Columbia takeover are superficial in the extreme. We went though years of activism with slowly accelerating violence on all sides and some of us went a little crazy, ultimately destroying ANY chance of an earlier end to the war. Some of these protesters are starting at crazy and trying to appropriate our legitimate and ultimately unsuccessful struggle.
