Tell that to Dolly, or Jane Fonda, or Judy Dench, or Kate Hepburn, or Janis Ian (saw her in concert just before the lockdowns, wow) or Elizabeth McGovern and Maggie Smith or a couple of dozen others...I agree with much of your premise but it seems that talent will out when the initial fame was based on more than youth and looks.
