The real and perverse tragedy of Cruz and his ilk is that I doubt very much that they care, one way or the other, about the existence of trans and non binary people. I think that he has identified a topic that is strange to the people he looks to for votes and that scares them. Only a person devoid of conscience could make the bizarre transition of one who is the butt of trump jokes and whose family has been insulted and maligned by trump lies to a sycophantic suck up to the toxic orange clown.

Cruz lives somewhere on the spectrum of sociopathy, willing to hurt anyone in the pursuit of his ambitions, devoid of conscience for the harm he causes. Were there actually a hell I'm sure a seat by the fire would have his name on it. Sadly, and most likely, his lack of empathy and conscience will allow him to feel self-righteous to the end.
