The rebirth of the handcraft movement/aesthetic in the U.S. really gained steam in the late 60's-70's with the counterculture. There is an ever stronger hunger for authentic and sustainable life styles, employment opportunities, and non-disposable hand crafted goods. Good for emerging economies, good for consumer societies, if done well good for the planet.
