The U.S. is not geographically divided, at least not by state. Blue states are full of Republicans, Red states are full of Dems. The true divide in the country is urban/rural, and neither can live without the other. But more importantly, most Americans are fully vested in homes, jobs, businesses, churches, communities, and can't afford financially or psychologically to risk all in some dumb act of rebellion.
