The vast swaths of land we have converted to monoculture agriculture to feed cows, pigs, and junk food addicted Americans dwarf any notion of the solar or wind farms needed to replace fossil fuels. Over these thousands of square miles of essentially dead land birds, mammals, insects, and native plants are also excluded, all for an unnecessary use. Our presence on earth is crushing the natural world and we need to choose wisely what stays and what goes. Few things make less sense than shipping energy from a centralized generation facility to throw away the solar energy collected by the built environment.
