This is flatly false. There was INTENSE diplomacy when we saw Russian troops building on Ukraine's border. How is anyone supposed to take your writing seriously when you write this kind of nonsense? Immaterial what degree of political freedom existed in Ukraine before the putin assault, even more immaterial now that he is hammering Ukrainian cities to bloody rubble. If THAT were the standard then of course Europe would have been justified to invade Russia. All very well to hypothesize on plans to raise people who can value freedom, there's an actual deadly and ongoing military assault to deal with and the events in Bucha and Mariupol bear witness to the consequences of losing the fight to throw out the invaders.

So long as putin rules Russia they will remain in economic "time out", utterly immoral and hugely dangerous to do business with this psychopath who has shown that he regards causing death and human suffering as legitimate, even desirable tools to realize his personal ambitions. You discuss with a child the consequences of their cruel or selfish actions; most children are capable of empathy and change their behaviors when they understand the pain those behaviors cause others. When however, you identify a psychopathic child who intentionally tortures animals for pleasure you can't appeal to empathy...that child has none and history shows that too often will escalate to torturing and killing people.
