This is so historically ignorant it seems like a joke piece...not seemly to joke about such bloody events. Let's add some facts for flavor. In WWII Germany's Wehrmacht rolled across Russia with relative impunity until stopped by General Winter. While absorbing horrific casualties Russia was ALSO rearming, building up forces, allowing Germany to expend troops and resources they could not afford to lose in a global scale conflict. Before long it was Russia rolling back across the land wiping out German forces.

Why is this relevant to Ukraine? putin made several bad assumptions when invading Ukraine, probably because his yes men intelligence collectors were telling him what he wanted to heart, that Russia would be greeted by Ukrainians as brothers and liberators..

"Informed" by wishful thinking the invasion was conducted in the most shambolic imaginable fashion. There's no guarantee though that Russia won't turn this around, the way they did in WWII.

Apparently you haven't seen the scale of Ukrainian lands reclaimed last fall, or choose to dismiss them because they don't suit your argument. That argument, however, is fundamentally flawed in many ways.

While few people think that Russia will "conquer Europe", many responsible people see putin's ambition to reconquer Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Georgia, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czeck Republic, Hungary, and of course Ukraine.

Assumptions that putin's nukes won't work are just dangerous, as are assumptions that he is in any way currently willing to negotiate peace and actually uphold his end of any deal he signs. As everybody should know by now, putin's word and signature are worthless, other fascist dictators with their own territorial ambitions are watching closely, and in all likelihood putin is trying to build up for a spring offensive.

There are no easy answers to the dangerous situation in which putin has placed the world, other than perhaps other forces in Russia tiring of his criminality and their daily losses and tossing him out.

Once again, and probably mistakenly again, you assume there are no peace talks underway. You will not be informed of such talks until putin has given up his territorial ambitions and is actually looking for a way out, not just a breathing spell to rearm. Jimmy Carter said wisely and more than once, "Serious negotiations will only happen when ALL parties are convinced they have nothing more to gain by fighting". putin is not yet convinced.
