This is speculation, not investment. One invests in a real property or business with potential for intrinsic value growth. BTC has no intrinsic value, other than as a currency, a medium of exchange. BTC intentionally limited its supply, perhaps unintentionally setting itself up as a speculative commodity, given that if a demand developed then the limited supply would drive up the price. Should a digital currency emerge that solves this problem, speculative price spikes and valleys, so that it can actually function as a currency, it will quite possibly render BTC valueless. Without long term stability in exchange rate, BTC is not a currency...there is then little difference between a BTC and a tulip bulb, except of course a tulip bulb can produce a beautiful flower AND reproduce itself;)
