Umair, you suffer from the same sort of ignorance that we, the native born do. We have not lived under the boot of a repressive government, recently, you have not lived long in a dynamic democracy like the U.S. You did not live through the Vietnam war, did not get photographed by the FBI, (like I did) did not experience their infiltration and provocateur COINTELPRO actions, their wire tapping of civil rights leaders, not to mention First Ladies, their dossier collections, their murder of Black Panthers.

While all societies are vulnerable to nativist right wing power grabs, and collectivist left wing power grabs, you seem to be entirely unaware of the multiple levels of state and local government and the resulting dispersal of power that exist here. There isn't a warning you give that hasn't applied several times in our past, that hasn't been fulfilled in the not too distant past, and hasn't been overcome those several times. I suspect you would have to know our county far better than you seem to in order to accurately sell the country short.
