Very interesting hypothesis. Though at present we can only hypothesize on the nature, or even the existence of LUCA, space exploration scientists take this one fairly seriously. They hypothesize that the moons of Jupiter might harbor life, particularly Europa which is thought to have salty oceans under it's icy crust, more water than exists on the Earth's surface, and thermal vents as well.
