What a smug and slimy hit piece. No mention of who Rep. Richmond is, which district he represents, who his constituents are or what they need..., just a selective pick of facts that can be made to make him look as bad as possible. Let me help you out a little, given that you seem to have no interest in presenting a fair and accurate portrait before training your guns and blazing away.
Rep Richmond served for two years as the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, he is the only Democratic Rep. from Louisiana, a state hugely dependent on the oil and chemical industries for jobs and income. Rep Richmond has a 97% favorable rating from the League of Conservation Voters, the highest rating any of La's 4 GOP Reps gets is 3%. Rep Richmond's district sits in a hot spot of chemical industry and air pollution, air that is strongly suspected to have caused cancer among his constituents.
Fossil fuels are the key component to causing global warming, they also put food on every table, heating and cooling in every structure, transportation to every job. Our transition to a carbon neutral infrastructure and economy will be difficult and will not happen without close collaboration between government, the business community, the entrepreneurs inventing and bringing alternative technologies to market. Keep the pressure on but deal with reality, political and economic.
