While I very much appreciate your detailed explanation of the genetic complexities of our mostly social constructs of “race”, this statement is flatly false. Socially we separate people into “racial” categories, which as you point out, have far less genetic significance than most people assume. However, and it’s a big however, the observable physical traits that we use to socially determine “race” are genetic. Skin color is genetically determined. Hair texture and facial features are genetically determined. The genetic processes by which these features are determined are not well understood, a topic I am researching and plan to publish about in the near future, but I fear that making the effective claim that skin color and other factors of appearance are not genetic will cause those who could learn much from your piece to instead dismiss it.
