While I’m not sure how many BEBs put on suits and go home to the wife and family, I have run into their slash and burn tactics. I really don’t think we need the choice between two diametrically opposed cults of personality right now. While Obama may have stirred fierce loyalty (mine for example) he always had that cool, analytical and inclusive foundation on which to build.

Both Trump and Sanders have that solid minority base who will vote for them regardless of the acts they commit on 5th Avenue. After the all fronts assault on public institutions, public trust that was the GOP/oligarchy response to the Obama presidency, I think the country needs a turn back towards decency. What so many on the left never grasped about Obama was how deeply he understood the office and his responsibility to make the best decisions for everybody, not just his base.

Jailing banksters and busting up banks would have felt great, doing so at the expense of recovery from near economic disaster would have hurt tens of millions, with no ideologues or purists in position to defend them. Obama was willing to take the hit from “his own side” in order to defend countless “little guys” who stood only to lose from an ideological battle during a crisis. This is leadership.
