While there's no excuse not to train your dog to jump up on people there are a lot of people who encourage other people's dogs to do this. Stupid, self centered people are the biggest hazard as you age, and I see no cure for that.

Sadly my big old Lab is getting clumsy, a partially paralyzed back leg and arthritis in the front legs, now at risk from those energetic younger dogs.
