Nobody with any familiarity with the "British Invasion" artists is ignorant of the reverence with which they held the trailblazing U.S. Black blues and rock artists.

Nobody owns an art genre, and the introduction to white audiences of traditional and innovating Black artists put many of them on lucrative career tracks.

I attended many of these concerts, with musicians like James Cotten and Taj Mahal billed above newcomers like Led Zeplin, and avid white fans going wild for Isaac Hayes. BTW, the Beatles run of great songs and platinum albums was neither petty nor small scale;)
