You assume that the economy works as an outgrowth of an economic theory, capitalism, Marxism, whatever. This isn't true. Both the U.S. and the global economy have evolved out of practices that work, essentially the way any complex ecosystem evolves. Ecosystems don't evolve out of philosophies, they evolve out of the relative success of the various participants.
