You could say that but you would be wrong. As a young person it's quite possible that you have never experienced runaway inflation, like the kind we had in the 70s and 80s. People loved Reagan's supposed great economy but he never got inflation down below near twice the level it is now and mortgage rates started above 16% in his first year and never went below 10% during his 8 years and not for the first 3 Bush years. Current rates are not oppressive, just average to low for the last 50 years. As for people's expectations, people aren't that bright and Americans are globally ignorant of history, theirs or anybody else's;)
